This site quite literally changed my life and helped me through hell. I owe the support and encouragement I received to navigate that 10 years ago, to DS and MH and many others from this site. Happy belated birthday, sweet friend. We miss you down here.

Your legacy lives on in all of the hearts you touched. You made a difference, and created a legacy that has helped so many people. I was privileged enough to call you a friend, and you are missed DS.

I often think of this verse from Havamal – an old Norse poem attributed to Odin and reflective of the philosophy of the Viking culture. Basically, it’s an outline for how to live a good life, and I find a lot in common with my Christian beliefs.
Basically – it states the inevitability of death, and that all things will die. What will remain though and live way past you is "fair fame", or the respect you earn for your deeds and actions while alive.
This site is a beacon that constantly reminds me of the "fair fame" Deeply Scared so deservedly earned.

Cattle die and kinsmen die,
thyself too soon must die,
but one thing never, I ween, will die, --
fair fame of one who has earned.

"If, therefore, any be unhappy, let him remember that he is unhappy by reason of himself alone." Epictetus
